First started martial arts at UMAC in a day time summer program in 2002. At the time I was getting into trouble in and out of school and needed a direction with some sort of discipline. I was doing the summer program at UMAC and a Night class at fitness plus. By the end of the summer I liked UMAC 100x better, Shihan Andrew, the Sempai, and the Sensei, were all so positive and inspiring. So I progressed extremely fast in the art because I found a passion for martial arts. All I wanted to do was learn more and more. I participated is many retreats, tournaments, seminars, demos, and a few Full contact kickboxing matches. I also was one of the first members of the newly added MMA program at UMAC.
In the Winter of 2007 I tested for my first degree Blackbelt. shortly after I went away to college, and began exploring the martial arts world beyond UMAC, still nothing can compare. In the summer of 2009 I tested for my second degree Blackbelt along with my mother who tested for first degree black belt that same day. I also received the title of Sensei on that day. With the guidance and tutelage of Shhan Andrew - I run and teach a mixed martial arts program at college. We actually received an award for club excellence. Even when i am at college, i get home often and train as much as I can. when I get the chance. I find martial arts plays a very important role in my life and I hope to continue to do martial arts up until the day I die. And, I am proud to teach and help promote the great attributes and benefits of UMAC, and what it stands for.
